Inspired by an ecological philosopher who warns that losing the ability to perceive forests, mountains, rivers, and other beings as ‘alive’ signals an ecological crisis, Claudia Fuggetti creates photographic works that intervene directly in the landscape. Onto images of natural environments, she overlays bold chromatic fields, producing scenes that are at once familiar and otherworldly.

These interventions evoke the resilience and vital energy of nature, its capacity to adapt, regenerate, and protect itself even in adverse conditions. At the same time, the glowing colors suggest the fragility and finitude of human presence, which can never match nature’s inherent power of evolution and metamorphosis.

In this way, Fuggetti’s work not only reimagines how we see the natural world, but also challenges viewers—living in an age of historic climate change—to reconsider nature as a living entity, animated by forces far greater than our own.
